Newcastle v Stoke
Newcastle United host Stoke City on Saturday at St James’ Park.
One point separates Newcastle and Stoke heading into kick-off, with the sides 10th and 12th in the Premier League respectively.
Newcastle recorded their second consecutive clean-sheet win last weekend, beating Swansea 1-0 in Wales.
Jamaal Lascelles put in a captain’s performance. The skipper made an incredible stop on the line, moments before he headed in the winner at the other end.
Newcastle won one and drawn one at home so far this season in the league, whereas Stoke have posted one point from their two away games. They lost at Everton on the opening weekend and then earned a lucky point at West Brom.
But in between all of that, at home, they have beaten Arsenal and drawn with Manchester United. They don’t look like being a high-scoring side this season but with them going unbeaten in their last three games, they don’t look like losing.
Moreover, the Potters haven’t won at St James’ Park in five visits. The most recent two are draws on the back of three consecutive visits. They did score in 3 of the last four.
This could be a cagey and low-scoring affair with both of these teams looking to keep hold of their unbeaten runs and, at the same time, will be more than wary of each other’s threats.
Both boast decent defensive units but my money is on the Magpies at 2.38 with Sportsbet.io
