Gilmore sheds light in leaving the Pats

Ahead of the Carolina Panthers’ game against the New England Patriots, cornerback star Stephon Gilmore broke the silence about his former team. The CB said he was not pleased with the way that the Pats handled his injury both on and off the field back then.

Gilmore took a quad injury last December and had surgery in the same month. However, the star said that there was more around that than what the news had. Two summers ago, Gilmore was already set to move on from the team in the final year of his deal.

The Panthers’ star CB explained how the Pats messed up in his recovery progress back then. He said it was the business that reigned over his health for the team and it led to his move to Carolina as well.

‘I wasn't ready at the beginning of training camp, I'm going to be completely honest with you. The only thing was I just didn't like how they handled my situation with my injury’, the star said. ‘A lot went on with that that I didn't agree with and now that I am here, I am able to do the things I need to do to get me back and be ready to where I need to be’.

Gilmore made his debut for the Panthers and played 17 snaps. He even sealed the game with an interception. At the age of 31, he was willing to play under the same terms as he had with the Pats but did not want to do it there.

Still, Gilmore never raised his voice as much as a whisper. He did his best not to torch the relationships he had in New England, and he even had a lot of praise for coach Bill Belichick.

‘He is a great coach. He does everything, whatever he can do to help his team win’, Gilmore said. ‘He taught me a lot of football and how to be a better player and how to prepare. As a coach, he helped me in a lot of ways’.

At the end of the day, Gilmore is here to play for the Panthers, and he is having the best time of his life.
