NY Giants' Barkley out with injury
The New York Giants are set to miss Saquon Barkley’s services in the 2021-22 season due to an injury. He came into the season with the hopes of rewriting the story of his career that has been plagued with a lot of injuries, and he is back at it again in Week 6.
Barkley is set to miss more games aside from the Week 6 game against the Los Angeles Rams. He sprained his ankle in Week 5 and is struggling to get back to his form. That marked his 18th missed game due to an injury in the past three runs. Perhaps his redemption run would need to be moved to another season.
The star believes that it is one of the biggest factors for his lowly career in the NFL. Four years into the league, Barkley is yet to play a full season which he still longs to prove his worth.
‘I’ll be honest, it’s frustrating. It doesn't make sense why it's happening’, the star said. ‘But I can't keep that mindset. You can't get anywhere with it. Everything happens for a reason’.
The former no. 2 pick missed three weeks in 2019 with an ankle sprain and soon had a torn ACL in Week 2 of the 2020 season. He was the league’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018, but he did not play any better than that since then.
Those memories of his past injuries still haunt him up to this moment and those were with him when the Giants lost to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. The RB went down with the same ankle sprain from before.
‘I felt like I just started getting my stride back’, Barkley said. I didn't want to get on the cart because the last time I was on the cart, I was out for the season’.
Barkley says he sees it as a blessing in disguise. The Giants felt that they dodged a bullet when they finally had a timeline in his return. The RB is set to come back for New York in Week 7. This means that he has to take it slow soon and get strong one game at a time.
