Will the Colts win games without Wentz?

The Indianapolis Colts have worked on their roster in the summer only to have some setbacks in the 2021-22 season. Star QB Carson Wentz is one of the big names added to the team when they hoped for a shot in the playoffs, but those chances are getting slim with his health issues.

For starters, the Colts are yet to win a game in the 2021-22 season. Their first two games were losses to the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams. Wentz did all he could to help the team win, but his health keeps them worried for the 2021-22 season.

Wentz was there to lead the way for the Colts, but fans could say that his lead was not enough to push them to win. He recently rolled his ankle in a bad way and he had to exit the fourth quarter of their 27-24 loss as he suffered an ankle injury.

The star could just not stay in the game. Coach Frank Reich did not have any update on his star as soon as he had to go for further checking. What is clear is that they will miss him for more games and will also need some time to heal up.

‘He rolled it up pretty bad’, the Colts’ coach said. ‘I kind of had a sense when we walked off the field because I saw that it didn't look good. The longer we were off the field there it just stiffened up. He tried to return, but there was no chance’.

The Colts star had to hop off the field when he was knocked down to the ground by Aaron Donald who is the NFL’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year. The team had to bring in Jacob Eason who was tackled in his first drive as the Rams held on for the win.

Wentz believes that he will need some time to heal up which is tough for him after getting injured in the preseason as well.

‘I taped it up, I tried’, the star QB said. ‘There was not enough stability to get out there and go. It was definitely not fun to watch the last two-minute drives. I've played with a lot of ankle sprains before and this one I just couldn't play through’.

The Pro Bowler had 20 of 31 for 247 yards with just one touchdown while running for 37 yards. That stat line will be gone for now, and the Colts will have to rely on anyone else in the team to run the offence and direct their attacks.

The Colts could not find a way to win against the Rams even if the game was close. This only proves that the team could be in for a very tough stretch with Wentz set to miss some games.
