Is KP settling well with the Mavs?

Kristaps Porzingis had to spend time thinking about his future in the NBA when he first came into the Dallas Mavericks. The star forward believes that he still wants more with the Mavs at this point in his career as he continues to improve for the 2021-22 season.

KP is doing a great deal of work for the Mavs this season. The star is productive on putting up a lot of great numbers for the team at this point. He’s been on fire as compared to the past few runs, and that is a huge growth from the star.

Porzingis had some hiccups in his first two runs with the Mavs. Now that he has accepted his role with the team, he is shining brighter and is making the most of the chances of his career under coach Jason Kidd.

‘I feel great. My body is feeling the best that it’s felt in a long time’, the star said. ‘This coaching staff and how they see me out there on the court, it fits more to what I have in mind. It’s in everybody’s interest to bring the best out of me’.

There is a mixed chemistry between him and star Luka Doncic in their first three years as a duo. He was still confident that the team could make them work together as one.

The first two years were a blur. Most fans were ready to give up on KP, and yet he showed that he can shine bright in a season where all eyes are now on him.

‘I think we can be one of the best duos in the league’, Porzingis said. ‘I truly believe that’.

After two straight exits in the first round, KP’s injuries and his mixed play saw him close to the trade block over those years. However, the Mavs knew that they could still keep him in the squad and somehow make him fit in with the squad.

The Mavs have no plans to deal Luka for sure. He is the team’s best player and likely the one to take over Dirk Nowitzki’s legacy. KP is a centrepiece for the team as well, and they even extended his stay for four more years with a $158 million deal.

‘It’s the NBA, and it’s a business at the end of the day’, Porzingis said. ‘It’s not in your hands as players. I didn’t really put too much focus on that. I just kept playing. I tried to focus on doing the best job I can, whether I’m here or somewhere else’.

Porzingis’ future in the NBA is still bright. As one of the best stars in the centre spot, he is still doing well for a player who is standing tall among many players in the NBA at this point. He may even be a winning piece for the Mavs soon.
