Liquid set to lose Twistzz with FalleN as possible replacement

Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken has been a regular fixture in the Team Liquid lineup for years. However, he has said that he and Liquid decided to part ways. Former MIBR in-game leader Gabriel ‘FalleN’ Toledo is being tapped as his replacement.

Liquid ends their lacklustre 2020 with only one event win in 15 attempts. Their campaign culminated in an underwhelming stint in Europe as Liquid did not qualify for the BLAST Premier Fall Finals and they were last place in DreamHack Masters Winter. The bright spot is that they finished second to Astralis in the IEM Global Challenge but it looks like it was Twistzz’s last event with the team.

Ever since Liquid went to Europe in late November, Twistzz had been one of the worst performers on the squad as he posted a .97 rating in 23 maps played. He was the second longest-serving player on the team after Jonathan ‘EliGE’ Jablonowski. It is a shame that this has ended as Twistzz was once known as the ninth best player in the world back in 2019.

Bet on future CS:GO matches

FalleN will be marquee signing for Liquid as he fills a lot of holes that they have in the lineup. Ever since Nick ‘nitr0’ Cannella left the team, they have missed out on a pure AWPer and an in-game leader. In the meantime, Jake ‘Stewie2K’ Yip and Keith ‘NAF’ Markovic were sharing the AWP. The former was also filling in as the IGL of the team.

With FalleN, they get a player who can do both at a high level. He is already proven as he won two Major titles in the past with Luminosity Gaming or SK Gaming. It also helps that FalleN is fluent in English which will mean that there is an easy transition from the Brazilian scene to the NA side.

He was also teammates with Stewie in late 2018 when they were both playing for MIBR. It is hard to lose a player like Twistzz who has proven to be a top talent but the chips might finally fall into place with FalleN as the IGL.
