Dravid Talks About Raina's Effect on the Indian Team

Suresh Raina has decided to retire from professional cricket and he has received heaps of praise from people about his game. Rahul Dravid is one of those people who gushed about his positive qualities as a player.

Dravid was the captain of the team when Raina made his debut for the national team in 2005. Raina was one of the most exciting players in the lineup during the mid-2000s and he properly backed the hype when he joined the senior squad.

You could clearly see that with his playstyle and his fit in the lineup was just what India needed. He was already a player who did the small things that people do not usually see and that is what captains like Dravid appreciate because those kinds of players are easy to play with.

The former captain said, ‘He was playing U-19 cricket and doing exceptionally well. You could see at the time that Suresh was going to be a very very important player for India and that’s really how it has played out in the last decade-and-a-half’.

Bet on future cricket matches

Raina was a great batter during his career but he did not have much of a prominent career as star players like Virat Kohli. This was because he always did the difficult things and many Indian players believe that he always sacrificed himself for the sake of the team. They are thankful for his performance but they know that he is capable of doing more and he deserves more recognition from the fans who do not have the inside knowledge of a cricketer in the team.

You can see if he plays outside of the system, he was a star during his time at the domestic league level. Dravid said, ‘You always felt Suresh did all the difficult things for India. Batting lower down the order when honestly his numbers would have been a lot better had he batted higher up. That is seen in the success he has had playing for CSK where he bats at no.3 and he has a phenomenal record. Someone who I would think of as a terrific teammate’.
