How India scored a big win over Sri Lanka
India won by seven wickets in their first ODI with Sri Lanka to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The Men in Blue were at the top of their game and they succeeded to close out the game by a close margin. It was a huge win for India after a tough stretch early in June.
Sri Lanka had chances to win in the game, however they failed to make the most of it. The team won the toss and opted to show up with the willows first. The home batters could not fetch big runs to gain a huge pace that they needed to make the batting show work.
India rallied behind skipper Shikhar Dhawan in his big game as he knocked down 86 of 95 balls. He was able to lead the way for the Men in Blue and it was all thanks to him as he pushed them to take a huge lead.
The Men in Blue did not leave any stone unturned in this one as they proved that they can easily run at the big hurdles that the Lankans had to offer. It was all India who stole the show on the road and they are now at the top of the series with two more to win.
India’s big sparks
India chased a big lead in the game, but it was Prithvi Shaw who took the job into his hands as he smashed 43 off 24 balls and was even named as the player of the match. The Men in Blue had momentum and even Ishan Kishan scored 59 runs off 42 balls.
Suryakumar Yadav also had 31 off 20 and India was already in the lead that time. They closed out a big run which proved to be the dagger for the Men in Blue in their win, thanks to Shaw’s early spark.
‘I just went with my instinct and waited for the loose balls. Obviously wanted to keep scoreboard ticking and yeah. Pitch was very nice’, Shaw said. ‘First innings also was good but I think it got better in the second innings. Enjoy pace’.
India proved that they have a lot of firepower to bring in their games and they thrived in every game they play. The Men in Blue may have found their groove again.
Dhawan has led the way for India’s big win and they have matured well over the years. The team was pleased with their win and they knew how great of a game it was at this point. Beating Sri Lanka is a huge feat for any team.
The skipper had a lot of praise for the Indian team and said they had strength in them. The way the boys played showed grit and grind for India’s boys, and they made it look so easy. This is why India earned a lot of praise from many analysts and stars.
This sets India’s momentum in their games for their next Test with England this August. They may be able to prove that they are ready to win sooner or later.
Whatever the outcome of this ODI series will be, India is ready to face the odds and bring the best of their game.
