How the Black Caps stunned the Men in Blue
New Zealand stole the show from India as they came out on top of the hyped World Test Championships in England. The Black Caps came up with a huge win by eight wickets with 43 balls left. The six-day match was an intense game for both sides, and is one to remember.
Two years after they fell short in the World Cup final, the Black Caps came back to English soil as a team with a huge task to win the WTC final. Kane Williamson and the boys have earned the title for this year’s edition.
New Zealand was hailed champions at the end of a big battle that lasted for six intense days for the two squads. Both have given all they got to win the huge series, but in the end, one may only come out on top of the competition.
The Black Caps showed what it means to be a champion. The team went from many runs down for more than twice in the series, and yet they did a great job to lead the way to their win.
There was a tough rain that soon led to the reserve day. Still, the sun smiled on New Zealand as they came out on top after the huge win. Kane took up the trophy and lifted it at the Test mace in Southampton.
Gritty Black Caps
The Black Caps were able to claw their way back from a huge deficit. India came up with a lot of big leads for most of the game. As soon as New Zealand got their groove and chased down the lead, it was all on their hands as they closed out the Men in Blue.
New Zealand came back more than once to make sure they got the win. This eight-wicket triumph is enough to show the world why the Black Caps are now the best in Test cricket.
A lot of fans hoped to see India take over in this game and it was almost the same outcome. New Zealand did a great job to make sure India’s batters would have a tough time on the final day.
Kane had ice in his veins as he notched a total of an unbeaten 52 runs in the fourth innings. The Black Caps saw 139 in 53 overs and knocked off seven to spare.
What has been said
It was all New Zealand in the finish, and they had full control of the game during that time. It led them to a huge win that they have been waiting for some time now.
India captain Virat Kohli had nothing but praise for the Black Caps in the loss. Kohli said it was a great deal of work for both sides, but he knew it was going to be a long day for any one of them.
Kohli said he is still pleased with the result despite the loss and knows how India gave it their all to win big.
‘We are not too bothered by this result because we understand, as I said, as a Test side, what we’ve done over the last three, four years’, Kohli said. ‘So this is not a measure of who we are as a team and the ability and the potential we have had for so many years now’.
The Black Caps are now the best side in Test cricket, and they have nothing more to prove this time.
