Dhoni to play IPL 2024?

The management of the Chennai Super Kings believes that their talisman skipper, respectfully known by the fans as "Thala," will play in the IPL for at least one more season, despite the fact that MS Dhoni has kept everyone guessing about his impending retirement.

The franchise's CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, said, "That is my guess," following CSK's match against Kolkata Knight Riders, which is officially the team's final home match of the year. He hasn't indicated either way, but given how he performed and led the team, Viswanathan added, "I personally believe he will play next year as well."

Prior to the IPL 2023 match at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow against the Lucknow Super Giants, Dhoni made suggestions about extending his IPL career earlier in the season.

When asked if he was enjoying his farewell tour, Dhoni said, "You've decided it's my last IPL, not me."

When asked about his plans for the IPL, the former India captain is renowned for giving short answers. Before CSK's final game of the 2020 season, Danny Morrison famously asked Dhoni if it would be his last game wearing yellow. Dhoni famously said, "Definitely not."

Dhoni left the pitch on Wednesday amid thunderous acclaim from the Lucknow crowd. In current season of the IPL, the 41-year-old has received an immense amount of support across all venues, and many people think it might be his last as a player.

"I'll simply thank everyone for their support; they showed up in great numbers. Thanks a lot to the crowd, Dhoni had said during CSK's game at the Eden Gardens last month. "They are trying to give me a farewell," he added.

After leading the team to its 10th Indian Premier League (IPL) final on Tuesday, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni opted to keep his future as a CSK player under wraps.

CSK advanced to the final, which will take place in Ahmedabad on Sunday, after defeating the defending champion Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 1 game in Chennai's M. A. Chidambaram Stadium.

The 41-year-old Dhoni spoke up during the post-game interview when the fate of his IPL career was in doubt, saying: "I don't know (return to Chennai as a player), I have 8-9 months to decide." I have time to make a choice. It takes place in December. I'll come to CSK. We'll see. I've been away from home since January and have been practicing since March.”

After a dismal 2022 season in which CSK finished ninth in the standings and missed the Playoffs for just the second time in 14 seasons, the team is back in the summit battle. The team will be traveling to familiar territory in the elimination rounds. Dhoni said: "I think the IPL is too huge to say it is just another final. There are no longer eight teams. It becomes even more difficult with ten teams. Two months of arduous work. Our players demonstrated a great deal of character."

Will CSK win the title? What do you think?
