Root hints at star backups for England

England took a huge hit in the fourth Test versus India when they wrapped up the match in a loss of 157 runs. The Three Lions and Joe Root are back to the drawing board once more as they need to form a plan up and running to beat the Men in Blue and tie the series.

India’s win in the fourth Test only proved the query that the Three Lions will not win a game with both James Anderson and Ollie Robinson sitting out the game at the same time. Root said that the team will still need to weigh upon the fitness of their pace spearheads.

The fifth Test is underway, and the bowling attack only had a short time to recover. Both James and Ollie are leading the way for that side and Root wants to see more from the two stars lead the way in the crucial battle.

Root also said that there is no way that he would risk an injury to put an edge on the squad’s chances to win the series.

‘You never want to go into a Test match playing someone under risk of injury’, Root said. ‘You want to make sure you do the best thing for the player but you also don’t want to go into a Test match and someone go down injured and you’ve got one less bowler at your disposal’.

India has proved that they can go from behind and still take a 2-1 lead with one game left to play in the series. Root said that the Three Lions has to strive to cope with big moments and change the pace of the game.

This is the last chance for the Three Lions to come back and salvage what they can in the series. There were mistakes along the way and not even Root can solve them all. Now is not the time to put the blame on anyone. It is time for them to step up.

England’s last chance means that they are in need of a boost that could bring them a win by the end of the series. All that is left is to tie the standings and that should wrap it up.
