Top Moments of IPL 2023

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is known for its nail-biting thrillers, and the ongoing edition of the IPL has been no different as it has given its supporters some unforgettable and joyful moments with some heart-stopping action. After witnessing the action for over a month, ardent league buffs have many memorable moments to treasure from the 16th edition.

The One Wicket Thriller- RCB Vs LSG

In their third game of the season, Royal Challengers Bangalore faced Lucknow Super Giants at their home venue M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Lucknow skipper KL Rahul won the toss and chose to field first. However, his decision backfired when the RCB’s top order Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell, enjoyed their time on the crease and helped Challengers accumulate 212 runs in 20 overs.

Lucknow lost Kyle Mayers on the first delivery of the first over. After left-handed batter Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya returned to tscoredStoinis played a commendable 65 runs off 30 deliveries. At captain Rahul’s departure, LSG needed 108 runs off 53 deliveries.

Grabbing the strenuous task with both hands, Nicholas Pooran flexed his muscles and scored fifty in just 15 deliveries. With 24 required off 19, the wicketkeeper-batter got dismissed on 62 off 19 deliveries. Pooran's wicket brought RCB back into the match, but in the end, the KL Rahul-led side pulled it off by one wicket as Pooran’s batting exploits completely changed the course of the game.

The Rinku Carnage- GT vs KKR

In the 13th match of the IPL 2023, KKR defeated GT by three wickets with the help of Rinku Singh’s sensational batting display. Using his power, Rinku achieved the impossible of pocketing the match in the last over of the game. His fabulous knock in the game will be one of the greatest in the league's history.

At the toss, Rashid Khan was lucky and decided to bat first. With some fine batting performances from Shubman Gill (39 off 31), Sai Sudharsan (53 off 38), and Vijay Shankar (63 off 24), GT managed to gather 204 runs on the board at the end of their 20 overs. While chasing this total, KKR openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Narayan Jagadeesan capitulated early in front of GT bowlers.

After the departure of both openers, the bold batting performances from Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana kept KKR alive in the chase. However, the matter started going out of KKR’s hands when Rashid Khan claimed a hat-trick by getting the scalps of Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Shardul Thakur.

In the last over, KKR needed 29, which seemed impossible for the visitors, but Rinku, who had other plans that day, produced fire with his bat and destroyed Yash Dayal by striking him for five consecutive sixes.

The Spin Master Rashid- GT vs KKR

Afghanistan's ace leg-spinner Rashid Khan once again reminded the world why he is the best in the business after he grabbed the first hat trick of the 2023 season against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Rashid registered his first ever hat-trick in the IPL when he dismissed Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Shardul Thakur off successive deliveries to turn the game on its head.

However, destiny eventually went against Rashid in that game as his side lost the contest courtesy of Rinku Singh's five sixes mania in the final. Rashid was also the stand-in captain in that match since Hardik Pandya was unwell.

Before Rashid, Yuzvendra Chahal bagged three successive dismissals against KKR last year. Before that, Pravin Tambe in 2014 and Makhaya Ntini in 2008 had also secured hat-tricks against the Knights.

24 Lacs for Two!- MI vs PBKS

Punjab Kings left-arm bowler Arshdeep Singh defending 15 runs against Mumbai Indians in the final thrilling over of IPL 2023 match 31, broke 2 LED stumps worth INR 24 lakhs. Mumbai Indians were chasing 215 runs and had several partnerships during the chase. However, Singh bowled a brilliant 18th when the team struggled against Suryakumar Yadav (57) and Cameron Green (67). Hence, the bowler was handed over in the last over.

To win, Mumbai Indians needed 15 from four. With his consecutive deliveries being Yorkers, Singh broke the stump worth 24 lakhs into halves when MI players Tilak Verma and Nehal Wadhera were bowled out.

After breaking the middle stump twice off successive deliveries, Singh came close to a hat-trick.

The stumps are priced so highly because of the LEDs with Zing balls and microphone wiring.

Sky High- MI vs GT

Suryakumar Yadav smashed his maiden IPL hundred against Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium. His 49-ball 103 guided MI to a staggering total of 218 for five in 20 overs after being forced to bat first. The 32-year-old went past his best of 83, which came against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Mumbai’s last game this season.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan put on a 50-run partnership and provided a blistering start for the five-time champion before Rashid Khan struck twice in an over to dismiss both the openers.

Following the setback, Suryakumar and Vishnu Vinod carried the momentum by adding 65 runs off 42 deliveries for the fourth wicket. After Vinod fell for a well-made 20-ball 30, Suryakumar continued his onslaught and helped Mumbai add 52 runs off the final three overs to propel his side to a formidable total.

Suryakumar also became the first Mumbai Indians batter to score a hundred at the Wankhede Stadium in the IPL since Sachin Tendulkar’s 66-ball unbeaten 100 against Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011.
