Vengsarkar says Kohli is a good captain

Virat Kohli made a huge call to step down as the captain for India’s T20I side by the end of the T20 World Cup. That took the cricket world by storm and even the former great Dilip Vengsarkar was shocked by this move as he believes that Kohli is the Men in Blue’s best leader.

While most Indian fans had mixed reactions about this matter, Dilip believes that Kohli has been a good leader in his own right. The captain has helped the Men in Blue win many matches in his lead over the years and Dilip was taken by surprise in that move.

Dilip has watched many of India’s games and he knows how Kohli likes to lead by example. While the skipper may have not done very well in the T20 format of the game, Dilip says Kohli could have done better in his games and still win a lot of titles with India.

The former star also said Kohli deserves to lift the T20 World Cup as the Indian captain. This call to step down was just not at the right time en route to the coming tourney this October 2021.

Kohli may want to put his focus on the Tests, which is a big part of India’s success. Fans thought that the call was set to be made after the TWC. Dilip hopes that the skipper wins the World Cup and believes that he deserves it.

For Dilip, Kohli is already a world-class batsman and a great captain. He has done well for India in both Tests and ODIs. It was tough for him to see Kohli step down as the captain even if that does little to affect their chance in the format.

Dilip even said that Kohli has worked hard to earn his place as India’s skipper. He plays with all of his heart and that is a huge plus for any leader in the game. No one expected Kohli to make such a decision and it might even be a blow for India’s T20 games after the World Cup.

Whatever Kohli’s plans are, fans just hope that it is for the best.
