Warner unlikely to make a comeback

Star David Warner was left out of the squad for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their game against the Rajasthan Royals. SRH Head Coach Trevor Bayliss says that it would take some time before Warner can actually make a comeback into the lineup in their coming games.

Bayliss claimed that the makeup of the squad is changing more than ever. The team now aims to put more bowlers in the side, and the SRH outfit has chosen to go with Mohammed Nabi in that game against the Royals.

The coach also said that Jason Holder would be a much better boost in the bowling lineup as well. Bayliss claims that the SRH side would opt to stick to the same XI in their coming games - should the IPL ever come back into play again after being suspended due to the recent spike of COVID-19 cases in the country.

‘Difficult decision, big decision but we wanted to try and change the makeup of the team. Try and help our bowlers with a few extra overs from another bowler’, Bayliss said. ‘We have gone with Nabi in this game. Someone like Jason Holder in that middle order will help our pace bowling as well. We want to stick with the same team, rather than dropping players from one or two matches’.

Some found Warner’s benching harsh, they believe he should look for another team that would cater his talent well.

Warner has been hot in his run for the 2021 edition of the IPL. The Australian batting star has scored a total of 193 runs in the six innings he has played in so far. He also has an average of 32.17 in runs scored per game.

Warner is one of the best batsmen in the history of the IPL. He is the fifth-highest run-scorer in the league at 5,447 runs and an average of 42.22. He scored 50 fifties and four centuries in his IPL run. Those numbers just mean that he deserves a spot in the SRH’s starting lineup.

Whenever the IPL may come back into play, the team has to put him back into the starting XI and make sure that he gets the best minutes possible. Warner’s talent is not something that is ignored.
