Williamson might replace Dhoni as CSK skipper
With MS Dhoni now going for the closing run of his fabled career in cricket, the Chennai Super Kings are getting ready for his final games. The team eyes many players to take the team’s lead, but Pragyan Ojha claims that Kane Williamson is the best for that spot.
Dhoni has already proven his point as the best player to ever wear CSK’s colours. However, the team must now put an effort to look for the next player who would be able to come up with the same energy and pace that the Indian star carries. It seems that it would be a tall order for them to do so.
Back then, it was just a rumour, but now the team has to start piling up some names who could be the next big captain for CSK. Former cricket star Pragyan Ojha claims that Ravindra Jadeja would make a good vice-captain for the squad should Dhoni ever move on from his spot in the team.
‘He (Ravindra Jadeja) can be a vice-captain where if you need some help then he can be your guy’, Ojha said. ‘But if you’re talking about captaincy, then if there’s one guy who can do it, it’s Kane Williamson’.
Ojha said that Williamson could be the next skipper for CSK.
The former cricket star says that the New Zealand star needs a better team to shine on. Playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad has been very bad for his career, and adding him to CSK would mean a lot for his chances to win an IPL title.
The former cricket star is keen on his suggestion and believes that Chennai should make the move to acquire him when the mega auctions come into play.
‘He isn’t being utilized much there (at SRH). Mega-auction is next year, if MS Dhoni is playing then this question shouldn’t arise in the first place’, Ojha said. ‘However, if he doesn’t play then you can bring in Kane Williamson as a captain’.
Dhoni’s future remains uncertain, and this means a lot for CSK’s chances of winning an IPL title in the coming years. He cannot be replaced, but the team can sure try to find one who can step up.
