West Indies vs Australia: Winnable factors for the first ODI discusses the key factors that will decide who seals a win in the first ODI between West Indies and Australia.

Bat first or second

The Kensington Oval will host its first game in a year, and is a venue where chasing seems to favour teams batting second. All three matches of the ODI series will be played in Barbados, and in the first game, the toss-winning captain is pegged to bowl first.

Top Batsmen

Shai Hope is probably going to be their mainstay with the willow. The Windies top-order batsman averages in excess of 53 in ODI cricket and has already slammed 10 centuries in only 81 games.

Mitchell Marsh has been a surprise package on this tour thus far. The all-rounder has scored 219 runs in the middle order and will need another all-round performance from him in the ODI series too.

Top Bowler

It will be interesting to see how the young West Indian batsmen handle the pace, bounce and seam of the premier Australian pace duo. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood can run through the best of batting line-ups in world cricket and if the hosts don’t show application, we could see them getting bowled out cheaply.
