West Indies vs Australia: Winnable factors for second ODI
Sportsbet.io discusses the key factors that will decide who seals a win in the second ODI between West Indies and Australia.
Bat first or second
The pitch at Barbados is likely to remain two-paced as we saw in the first ODI. On the weather front, rain is forecast and could curtail the game, like it did in the opening match. Thus, the toss-winning captain could bat first.
Head to head record
Australia leads the head to head record with a 75-60 margin, and will be looking to seal the series on Thursday, after losing the T20I series.
Mitchell Marsh: The Australian all-rounder has been a surprise package on this tour thus far. Marsh has scored 239 runs with the bat in the middle order in six games. The tourists will need another all-round performance from him going ahead.
Hayden Walsh has been the chief destroyer of the Australian batting on this tour. After tormenting the visitors in the T20Is, Walsh made an immediate impact in the first ODI too, by picking five wickets in his 10-over spell. West Indies will strongly pin their hopes once again on the Windies leg-spinner to strike big in the second ODI.
Mitchell Starc was the best pace bowler on show in the first ODI, as he ran through the Windies batting order to end up with match winning figures of 5/48 in eight overs. If Starc can get it on the money again in the second ODI, then it will be interesting to see how the young West Indian batsmen handle his hostile bowling.
