EG's woes continue to pull them down

The Evil Geniuses was America’s last hope in The International 10. They fell down in the lower bracket for the first time and were soon taken out of the contest for good. The team’s woes continue to bring them down despite having a great run in 2021.

EG was one of the top teams for the whole 2021 Dota Pro Circuit season. They finished second in both Majors and even racked up the most DPC points en route to TI10. None of those big feats mattered to Vici Gaming when they took down the giants to make it to the top eight.

While it was one of the closest series that they have seen in the lower bracket, EG’s loss in the whole series was a poor finish to the 2021 season. They had a chance when they stormed to win the first game in just 22 minutes. Most fans expected VG to make the same mistakes they had in the opening game but turned the tables for the last two games.

Vici shook off the loss and came back strong in Game 2 they had plenty of great kills in that win. EG had a few leads in the early and mid-game but soon fell apart when VG took them down late in the game with a few pickoffs.

VG then doubled down on the same pace in Game 3. They played slow and did not panic even when EG had an early lead. They focused on the push and soon turned the tables once more as they powered in the strong lane. That allowed them to work well and kept EG from making big pushes of their own.

With the win, VG got a chance to play T1 in the next round and is now the third Chinese team to make it this far in the tourney along with PSG.LGD and Invictus Gaming. This shows how dominant the region is.

EG, on the other hand, closes their run with the worst finish they ever had in the Fly era. They have always been in the third since TI8 and this is the third time the team has finished outside the top six in TI.
