Team Secret mutually parts ways with carry MATUMBAMAN

Team Secret has parted ways with another star as Lasse ‘MATUMBAMAN’ Urpalainen has mutually parted ways with the organization. This leaves Secret with the three longest-tenured players led by founding member and team captain, Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov.

After parting ways with longtime offlaner Ludwig ‘zai’ Wåhlberg earlier in November 2021, Secret is back at it again by letting MATUMBAMAN go. Secret was the best team in Europe for the past three years but it did not end up working at The International 10 as they lost in the lower bracket final to the eventual champs Team Spirit.

Matu released a statement as he exited the Secret squad. He said, ‘Playing with the boys was a blast this past year. I appreciate each and every one of my (former) teammates and would count one of them as a friend. Thanks also to Team Secret, to Matt (Bailey) the best manager, and to John (Yao), the best content creator in esports’.

He was one of the best carry players in the world over the past few years. He was with The International 2017-winning Team Liquid squad. When he left Liquid, Secret parted ways with their carry player.

Matu will be remembered as a stable presence in the Secret squad. This leaves both Michał ‘Nisha’ Jankowski and Yazied ‘YapzOr’ Jaradat to take the farm during the past three years. Now, they have to change the dynamics with two new players.

Away from speculation, Puppey also addressed Matu’s exit. The Secret skipper said, ‘Another chapter has ended, but never forgotten. Lasse is an amazing guy and I really enjoyed being teammates with him. We shared some great moments together and I am sure that we will keep crossing paths outside of our careers’.

It will be fun to see how Secret will line up because they have a strong connection. Secret will be a tough team to beat with just these three players but getting SumaiL and iceiceice would be an awesome experience for the team.

Matu himself is on his way back to Team Liquid where he won his first TI back in 2017. He will join his fellow Secret core player, zai.
