Why Quincy Crew can be a dark horse at The International 10

North America is not usually known as one of the best regions in professional Dota 2 but in the 2021 DPC, Quincy Crew has done well to represent NA. At The International 10, fans have not given them the chance to be called a big dark horse to win the Aegis of Champions.

Once known as Chaos EC, this NA team has become the second squad always called upon to represent the region. Evil Geniuses has remained as the number one team in the region but QC has quickly grown to become one of the best teams not only in NA but in the world as well with their qualification to TI.

They have a good mix of players led by team captain Avery ‘SVG’ Silverman. He is joined by his longtime teammate and support partner Arif ‘MSS’ Anwar as the anchors and leaders of the squad. Their main stars are their two core players which are Yawar ‘YawaR’ Hassan and the team’s namesake Quinn ‘Quinn’ Callahan. Lastly, they have a wildcard as their offlaner Rodrigo ‘Lelis’ Santos.

What makes QC a dark horse?

This upcoming edition of TI is one of the hardest ones to predict. With the lack of solid LAN tournaments in the past two years, it is hard to gauge the teams in the tournament. However, since online events have become the norm, we have some way to measure teams and how they can perform on LAN.

Since this team is filled with veterans who have LAN experience, it is not hard to say that this team can pull off the upset. It will be hard since the teams present at TI will be the best that every region has to offer. QC is not made up of All-Stars but they are a plucky team whose play style lends itself to shining at an event like TI.

YawaR and MSS will surely be the stars of the show since they always make important plays when they are needed. If they can keep their stellar form going, you can expect QC to be a lowkey contender in Bucharest.

Is a QC TI win realistic?

While it’s possible that QC can win TI, it is also likely that they will be bounced out early. They are a rollercoaster team because they always trend downwards and upwards at an alarming pace. However, people should worry about facing this QC team since they have the chance to surprise everyone with their stellar performances.

Lelis can pop off and become one of the best players of the tournament and Quinn is always a reliable mid player when it comes to big events. TI is hard to predict but when it comes to dark horses, you can always see them coming from miles away.
