Canadiens sweep the Winnipeg Jets in the second round
With Tyler Toffoli’s overtime goal in Game 4, the Montreal Canadiens swept the Winnipeg Jets in the second round of the NHL Playoffs with a 3-2 win. This was Montreal’s seventh win in the row dating back to Game 5 in their first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Montreal awaits the winner of the Las Vegas Golden Knights vs Colorado Avalanche series. The Canadiens are playing stellar hockey at the moment and it looks like they have the momentum that can carry them through the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Even coach Dominique Ducharme is ready for the challenge of facing either the Knights or the Avalanche. He knows these two teams are among the best in the NHL and Montreal wants to ensure they belong on the big stage by beating the winner of that series in the semifinals.
‘It’s good to measure yourselves against the best’, the coach said. ‘We want to go further than this, so if you want to win, you have to beat the best’.
The Canadiens’ confidence is at an all-time high. They are one of the scariest teams left in the playoffs and they have a legit shot at winning the Stanley Cup. The team is mostly known as a squad that has been carried by Casey Price and Shea Weber for a long while.
Back in 2019, Price talked about how they have a bright future ahead of them. However, he had some second thoughts at the time about his future with the team and how it will play out.
‘We’ve got a great future with our prospects’, Price said. ‘But when I think of it, I kind of think back over the course of my career and seeing so many players come and go. So it’s good to have depth in your system, but for me, being on the ice, it’s kind of irrelevant until I see somebody in the lineup’.
Price enjoys the fruits of their labour because they’re only four wins away from reaching the Stanley Cup final. Even the Jets themselves believe Montreal can pull off the title run. Hopefully, all of the teams can give the fans the best performances.
