How Chimaev’s message was received by Dana White

Khamzat Chimaev sent a strong message in his match against Li Jingliang at UFC 267. The star looked furious in his game and showed that he is still ready to shine even on the biggest stage. This is seen by Dana White as an act of defiance in his career.

Chimaev brought hell down on Li with a win in the first round via submission. He took the Chinese star down with a quick move to wrap up the match and moved 4-0 inside the Octagon. This was a strong message that fans can see as a wise career move.

After spending 13 months of frustration in his game, Chimaev made sure that the UFC boss would be on sight to see his win. This proved that Chimaev is ready for more games and pressures White to give him a new fight as soon as he can.

For most fans who have seen Chimaev’s big career, this win only adds more fuel to his fire and it says a lot about the way he wants to shape his career. That should be seen as a threat not just by White, but by many players in the UFC as well.

White saw it as a statement win

Before he wrapped up the fight, Chimaev lifted Li into the air for a takedown. Instead of crashing him down to the canvas, the star carried him to the side of the cage where White was sitting.

At the same time, Chimaev shouted at White. When the match ended, the UFC boss knew something was up and this was going to change the rest of Chimaev’s career in the UFC as well.

‘I don’t know why but basically just saying “I’m going to fight everybody, I’ll fight Brock Lesnar, I don’t care who it is.”’, White said. ‘He was just yelling stuff like that’.

When Chimaev came into action in 2020, he was loved by a lot of UFC fans and won twice in just 10 days to start off his career. He knocked out Gerald Meerschaert in just 17 seconds in his third fight with the promotion.

The UFC tried to ride on that momentum and even gave him a chance to fight Leon Edwards. However, the fight did not happen as the pandemic took place and Chimaev even got sick as well.

Chimaev said he is ready to roll

Now that he is healthy again, Chimaev wants to send a strong message that he is still coming for all of the best MMA fighters, and he doesn't care who he's up against. That is why White expects more from him in the coming months.

‘Listen, last time we were here, we knew this guy was special’, White said. ‘This COVID thing is one of the weirdest things any of us have ever seen. You get some people that fit the profile to be high risk and it doesn’t even feel like a bad cold to them and then a guy who’s in phenomenal shape like this guy, gets hit as hard as he did by COVID. But he’s back and he’s no doubt this kid’s special’.

With the win, Chimaev is now poised for a big shot in the UFC. Who knows, maybe the star’s level of competitiveness can set a new bar in the UFC that will inspire a lot of players to grind in their games as well.
