Li Jingliang is confident he can defeat Khamzat Chimaev

Khamzat Chimaev is one of the most hyped-up fighters in the UFC today. Li Jingliang wants to derail the hype train by beating Chimaev at UFC 267. The Russian-born Swede wants to become a top fighter but the Chinese star wants to put a stop to this Chimaev hype train.

2020 was a massive year for the Swede as he became one of the darlings of the UFC. He is one of the hand-picked stars since he has a good style which has irked some people. Li understands the hype behind Chimaev but he is not willing to give a starring role in the welterweight ranks.

Li said, ‘Khamzat is the new star of the UFC and we’ve all watched his past three fights. Everyone loves him. But I know exactly what I have to do and I will stop him. Khamzat is very impressive and everyone loves him. But I have 100 percent confidence in myself. After I defeat him I can sit down with Dana White, and have a cup of Chinese tea and then we can talk about the future’.

Bet on future MMA fights

Chimaev introduced himself to the UFC world when he debuted on Fight Island in 2020. He managed to beat John Phillips and Rhys McKee in the space of 10 days. He then had a brutal knockout win against Gerald Meerschaert two months later as he proved he’s a powerful fighter both on his feet and on the ground.

The past year has been a struggle for the Swede as he had to recover from a severe case of COVID-19. It was so bad that he had to nearly retire from MMA which would’ve been a huge disappointment due to the promise that he has showcased so far.

Fortunately for MMA fans, Chimaev is back and ready to fight on the biggest stage again after being halted by COVID. He has to go through a motivated Li who wants to win for his homeland of China.

Li wants to win the fight so he can help the UFC gain popularity in China and possibly inspire the younger generation to participate in MMA training camps.
