Betis draws tight game with Espanyol, 2-2
Real Betis came up short in their tight draw with Espanyol as both sides scored two goals each. It was a late comeback by Espanyol that fueled the draw, and it was a shock for many fans as they saw Betis being up 2-1 late in the game before they lost the lead.
Betis’ winning pace comes to an end with this draw to Espanyol. This was much more of a loss than a draw as the team almost had a win in their hands. It was a tight game from start to finish - a great delight to all fans in the game as they kept seeing goals and momentum shifts.
Espanyol drew first blood with a goal from Aleix Vidal in the 16th minute as the team took a 1-0 lead early in the first half. It was one of the big openers for the club as they attacked from all sides and went for a lot of shots in the game as well.
The team soon had an error when Adria Pedrosa scored in their own goal in the 41st minute. That tied the game and it was locked heading into the next half as Real Betis soon took the lead with a shot in the 49th minute.
That shot by Nabil Fekir was perfect for Betis to take the momentum away from Espanyol. They did a great job on the defensive end and were able to beat Espanyol on most of their attacks that time. The second half saw a burst from Betis but no goal was scored for the team.
With three minutes left on the game clock, Espanyol made one last push and scored a tying shot from Leandro Cabrera. It was a big hit from the star as he nailed a goal to save the game for Espanyol and end it with a 2-2 draw.
Betis falls to 1-3-1 in the 2021-22 season but sits two points away from the 10th spot thanks to this draw. Espanyol, on the other hand, is yet to earn its first win of the run and has lost twice in the last five games. This puts both clubs in a tight spot to chase more wins in the season.
