West Ham is always on the lookout for some of the best young talents in the game. They are on the prowl in scouting and some even say that the Hammers worked the same way as Borussia Dortmund does when it comes to landing youngsters.

When Sonny made his debut with West Ham, the team proved that they have what it takes to cater young talents in the 2021-22 season. Rice was pleased to see that Sonny fits well with the club and is doing a great job to help the team win.

That win against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League was a huge feat that most fans would consider a leap for the Hammers. At the age of 17, Sonny almost had a goal in his debut and was in the match for 13 minutes.

Coach David Moyes saw the potential in the young star from the England U18 squad and proved that he still had that keen eye when it comes to spotting good stars. It paid off well in the form of Sonny’s big game.

Sonny was pleased to be given a chance to play with the top flight squad. It is not every day that a youngster would get a chance to join a leading club’s endeavours. The teen had a header that drew a fine save from the keeper. He was quick on the attack and that earned him the praise he got from West Ham’s top star.

Rice said that Sonny has a bright future ahead of his games. Perkins joined the Hammers in 2019 from Leyton Orient and has impressed at both the U18 and U23 squad. The attacking midfielder has five goals from eight matches in the U23s while having a goal and assist in four U18 games. He also played twice for the team’s push in the EFL Trophy.
