EPL Fantasy League - Round 2 Recap
Check out the previous article from Trofo!
Let’s start this GW recap with Arsenal game. This was the beauty of the GW and most of our Arsenal assets did well. Arsenal confirmed my suspicion that they are very good in the attack but not solid enough in defense. Martinelli was very dangerous throughout the whole game and he is much better choice than Saka at the moment, especially considering that he is almost 2M cheaper. This could all change when Smith-Rowe starts to get more minutes but we should use this to our advantage while we can. What to say about Jesus, he scored 2 goals and assisted 2 more which got him incredible 19 points. Too put thing in proper perspective he also had few more good chances and he could have scored at least 2 more goals. At this point he is essential for my fantasy team and if you don’t have him, what are you waiting for?
Manchester City played another perfect game, winning with ease and keeping a clean sheet. Haaland did not get a haul like last time, but he and De Bruyne are only players in City attack that will play 70+ minutes every game. City defense seems like a good place to target for some points, since there isn’t any rotation in that part of the squad for the time being. Walker and Ake look like great value but they could become rotation risks later on in the season when Laporte gets back. Cancelo has already opened his assist account and with expected clean sheets he should be more than worth that 7M price tag. Most nailed defender in my fantasy squad.
Manchester United is the laughing stock of the Premier League and I would advise you to stay clear from their players and just enjoy a plethora of great memes that are coming out. As it stands every attacking player from team that plays against them is legit transfer target for that particular GW. I know I am giving Salah the band for the game against United.
Chelsea and Tottenham played very entertaining match. I expected Spurs to be a better team here but Chelsea positively surprised me and with their schedule turning for the better I am considering taking at least one player from their defense. My choice will probably be James or maybe new signing Cucurella who was quite attacking and already got some set piece duties as well. Spurs wing backs continue to be very dangerous and very unsettled, waiting to see how that situation with resolve before picking one of them. Since a lot of players exchanged Kane for Haaland it was sort of expected he will score, he waited until 96th minute, but goal is a goal.
Liverpool once again started poorly and conceded in a match that should have been easy for them. Too make things even worse Nunez received a straight red card for very stupid head butt. Seems like that was just what Liverpool needed to shift into higher gear. Dias scored a beautiful goal from solo effort and further complicated our 8M midfielder choices. Immediately after Zaha scored I decided to get rid of one of Liverpool defenders in my team (Robbo & Trent), they are way too expensive to keep them both and Robertson even got subbed for Tsimikas. Will be looking at press conferences to see if there was some injury involved but looks like I am replacing Robertson with Chelsea defender.
Villa got all three points against Everton but their most popular asset – Bailey did not start. When he finally came on he was far from goal and I believe it is time to remove him from our squads. Everton could be legit relegation candidate this season and I would not take any of their players. Brighton was better than Newcastle but the game ended without goals, nothing much to talk about here. Southampton and Leeds played very open game and while I am not looking at Southampton players I am sure I will be taking some of the Leeds attackers. You can read more about this in the next article on Thursday. Wolves and Fulham played another boring game and only thing that stands out is missed penalty from Mitrović. I am sure that did not sit well with all the mangers that just brought him in. West Ham was probably a better team but Forrest managed to take all 3 points and keep a clean sheet, very nice for all Neco Williams owners.
In the end Salah blanked and Haaland just got one assist so we can say most popular captain choices failed. There wasn’t many Jesus or De Bruyne believers out there but their brave move got them nice green arrows for sure.
