EPL Matchday 12 Preview: A major weekend for every team

Round 12

Entire Season Preview

Matchday 11 was a fantastic weekend for the 2022/23 Premier League season, with big-time results like Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Manchester City and Arsenal clinching a three-point lead at the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Leeds United.

Matchday 12 projects to be another massive game lineup in the Prem. For every Prem punter, this should not only be a fun time for betting but also meaningful for the rest of the season. The biggest match of the season yet, Manchester City vs Arsenal, was supposed to take place on this matchday but was postponed. However, there are other top games to watch out for and bet on.

Meaningful clash: Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Two of the best teams in the league are on a collision course with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. The former had a rough time in Matchday 11 as they had a goalless draw against Newcastle United. On the other hand, the Spurs have been on a hot streak with only one loss to their bitter rivals, Arsenal.

Two stacked teams face off

Man U and Spurs have two of the most talented squads in the Premier League. The Manchester side struggled to start the season, but they are showing they have a talented team led by Marcus Rashford and Antony. Erik ten Hag is the manager, and with the focus on offence, Man United has thrived with their talent skewing towards the offensive side of the game.

On the Spurs side, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min lead the way for the team. They have been helped by their teammates like Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Dejan Kulusevski. Spurs are a formidable team on both ends thanks to manager Antonio Conte’s focus on a faster pace.

This match will be fun for viewers and punters alike because this is primed to be one of the closest matches of the season. However, Man U is still viewed as the favourable winner.

Getting back on track: Liverpool vs West Ham United

After a slow start to the 2022/23 season, both Liverpool and West Ham have made headway recently. On Matchday 11, Liverpool managed to get a 1-0 win over their bitter rivals, Man City. On the other side, West Ham has not lost a game in the past three weeks, despite getting a draw on Matchday 11.

The Hammers have found solid form with their goal-scoring in recent weeks. Jarrod Bowen has been at the forefront of that as he scores goals and creates for his teammates. On the other side, Liverpool has improved their defence which has been challenging for them to deal with earlier in the season.

Liverpool wants to challenge for the title again

While they are in 8th place after Matchday 11, Liverpool wants to go on a hot streak again to contend for the title. It will be a rough task, but they are capable, especially with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk as their star players.

Jürgen Klopp must tactically manage this team and maximise their talent to the highest level. Liverpool is stacked with insanely talented players, but they need to ensure they are not complacent.

In this match against West Ham, LFC is the heavy favourite to win. However, this season, they have shown holes in their game. Liverpool will need to perform at their peak to show why they’re still contenders.

On the rise: Bournemouth vs Southampton

The Premier League has been a rollercoaster ride for most clubs, including Bournemouth. They have three wins and losses, with four draws to their record. On the other side, Southampton has been more of a struggling club, with only two wins and draws apiece to go with those six losses.

The players to watch for Southampton are Ché Adams and James Ward-Prowse, as they can make winning plays for goals. Conversely, Bournemouth has been a surprise package this year due to the fantastic play of stars like Philip Billing and Dominic Solanke. It will be a fun fixture to watch, especially since both teams are perceived to be on the same level.

This match is one of the closest fixtures of the season. Bournemouth has the same chance of winning this game as Southampton. Both clubs have struggled to score goals, so this game being goalless might also be a possibility. However, either team winning is more likely to happen than a draw, as the odds suggest.

Building momentum: Crystal Palace vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

It has been a tough 2022/23 season for the Wolves, as they only have two wins to their name. Granted, they just won their most recent match against Nottingham Forest, which can be a step in the right direction. On the other side, Palace also has two wins to their name, but they have been unlucky, with four draws and three losses in their record.

Expect the Wolves to challenge Palace in this game

Wolves have proven they can compete with the best of the best when they have solid momentum, led by Daniel Podence and Rúben Neves. Their recent match against Forest was a good sign that they are trending upward despite not having a permanent manager after Bruno Lage’s sacking.

On the other side, Palace had a fantastic 2021/22 season, and they want to keep that going in the next campaign. 2022/23 is off to a slow start for the Eagles, but they are ready to kick off a strong run with a win against Wolves with Wilfried Zaha at the forefront.

Palace is the favourite in this match-up, but with how the Wolves have been performing in this campaign, Palace’s win will not be an easy one. At the same time, a draw is more likely to happen than a Wolves win by a small margin.

Bouncing back: Leicester City vs Leeds United

Leicester is amid a nightmare season with only one win and seven losses. It has been rough for manager Brendan Rodgers and his team because they have been a consistent upper-half team over the past few years. It's a massive issue for the Foxes as they need to bounce back and prove they still deserve to be in the Prem.

On the other side, Leeds also has a fierce campaign. They had a pleasant start with two wins to their name, but in the past five weeks, they have not won a game. Their usual pressure playstyle has struggled, and they must prove they can reach the upper echelon again. Their performance against Arsenal in Matchday 11 was promising, and while they lost, they have a bright future ahead of them if they can keep playing like that.

While the Foxes are favoured, do not be surprised if Leeds can take the win or a draw happens. The players to watch will have to be James Maddison and Patson Daka for the Foxes because of their firepower on offence. On the other hand, Rodrigo is still the most significant threat to Leeds.

The 2022/23 Premier League season continues to be exciting

While title contenders Arsenal and Man City will not play on this Matchday, the rest of the English top-flight projects to have a fun week.
