Ferdinand heaps praise on Rudiger
Former star Rio Ferdinand has a lot of praise on Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger for his performance in the past few years. Rudiger has sparked his role as the best centre-back in the Prem ever since Thomas Tuchel came for the team in the 2020-21 season.
The star has made a strong impact for Chelsea in their 2021-22 run. The club has started the run with four wins and a draw in their first five games of the season. In that stretch, they have only conceded one goal and was seen as immense by Rio by his standards.
Rio believes that Rudiger has sparked his push well in the 2021-22 season so far. The star has stepped up his game well and showed Chelsea that he can be a top player for the club. Rudiger has been a spark plug for the Blues at this point.
‘Since Tuchel has come I think he’s arguably been the best centre-back’, Rio said. ‘It was evident he wasn’t Frank’s cup of tea. He didn’t really like him. There were rumours there were trying to put him in the market to be sold’.
When former coach Frank Lampard decided not to field Rudiger in his lineup, the star did not give up in his game. He bounced back when he had the chance under Tuchel for the next few months after Lampard was sacked.
The German has 12 months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge. He is in talks with the Blues for a new deal, and Tuchel would surely love to keep him around for the next few years to come.
The coach hopes the team finds a way to sign him for good. They want the star to get more chances to play and show his worth on the pitch. That should give them a better push all the way to the top of the Prem for the rest of the 2021-22 season.
The Blues have a strong lineup of defenders in their arsenal, and this shows promise for their chances at winning the 2021-22 title. Rudiger has been a mainstay for the team at Stamford Bridge this term, making his star power known once again. No one can deny the success that Rudiger can give to the Blues.
