Key Battles in Brazil’s ‘friendly’ meeting with Colombia

A fixture between Brazil and Colombia is synonymous for being an unscripted extravaganza of classic football action and on-field drama. discusses the top battles from the latest edition of the South American rivalry.

Roberto Firmino versus Yerry Mina

Liverpool’s number nine has been an effective component of the Samba Boys' recent success, especially the two goals and three assists in Brazil’s Copa America success this year.

Yerry Mina, on the other hand, has two clean sheets from four games in the latest Premier League campaign and will look to restrain Firmino's movement on the field.

Casemiro versus Juan Cuadrado

A battle that is expected to go dirty, Cuadrado’s mobility and creative intent will be up against the robustness and defensive tenacity of Brazil’s Casemiro. In the absence of James Rogriguez, Colombia boss will rely on the Juventus midfielder to orchestrate proceedings in the middle while Solecao will be more than happy to see Casemiro put up a theatrical display.

Thiago Silva versus Luis Muriel

With captain Radamel Falcao out injured, Luis Muriel will be deployed up front for Colombia against Brazil and make his own contribution towards Los Cafeteros' recent struggles of plotting goals on the board.

Thiago Silva has been instrumental in Brazil conceding just 10 goals in 42 games under manager Tite, and the PSG man is tipped to stitch a ‘wall’- like performance at the heart of the Solecao defence against Colombia.

Here are the odds for the Brazil versus Colombia fixture.
