Key battles to look forward to in the ‘London Derby’ at Tottenham

Sportsbet.io lists out the three tantalizing player battles from Saturday’s fixture, as Tottenham Hotspur welcome Crystal Palace home.

A troubled Tottenham Hotspur, who have secured just one point in the 2019-20 Premier League season, host Crystal Palace in the upcoming ‘London Derby’, where they will be aiming to pick full points. The Eagles, meanwhile, are fourth on the points table and will look to inflict further misery on Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

HARRY KANE vs GARY CAHILL

Kane, with three league goals so far, is poised to wreak havoc on Crystal Palace and resuscitate Spurs from their difficult start to the campaign. His all-time record against the visitors stands at three goals and two assists, and Palace will deploy 33-year-old Cahill to restrict his compatriot’s movement in the box.

The defender, who signed a two-year deal with the Eagles, registered a clean sheet in the last game and will hope to keep a successive clean slate against the Lilywhites.

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN vs LUKA MILIVOJEVIC

Fans will be in for a treat as the creative fluidity of Eriksen will clash against the all-round robustness of Milivojevic. The Danish international, a trending topic in the transfer window, is currently on a rough patch and is tipped to rediscover his footing against Crystal Palace.

Eagles skipper Milivojevic, on the other hand, has been Palace’ standout player for he has not only provided defensive stability at the heart of midfield but has also been a key element of the club’s attacking intent.

Both players are a major piece of their respective team’s playing strategy and the outcome of this battle will have a direct impact on the scoreline.

TOBY ALDERWEIRELD vs WILFRED ZAHA

With manager Roy Hodgson expected to play with a 4-4-2 formation, Wilfred Zaha will lead the frontline alongside Jordan Ayew and cause problems for a Spurs defence that has conceded six goals in four fixtures. In seven league matchups, the Ivorian is without a goal and Saturday’s fixture could see him break the deadlock.

Alderweireld, who has started all of Spurs’ fixtures this season, has made 19 recoveries and won 13 duels. Thus, Pochettino will entrust the Belgian to spin a web around the pacy winger.

Here are the odds for the Premier League fixture between Tottenham and Palace.
