Liverpool Snatches 1-0 Win Over Norwich
Sadio Mane’s game-winner in the 78th minute launches Liverpool over Norwich as they go 25 points clear for the top spot. The team’s unbeaten run continues with 43 matches along with their 17th straight win in the season.
The numbers continue to get better and better for Liverpool. They have claimed 76 points from a possible 78 this season as they come an inch closer for their 19th league title.
Meanwhile, the loss puts Norwich just below the depths of the Premier League table. The team battled well and kept the Reds scoreless until Mane came up with the winner. Norwich boss Daniel Farke knows that his team battled with everything they got.
‘I have many compliments for my lads for this performance’, said Farke. ‘For the performance, the workload and the tactical discipline. But then because of this one moment of magic from Mané I have to accept this loss. I don’t complain (about the push) because I have learned from this season that VAR never works in our favour. There is a push and if the referee had given a free-kick it would not have been overturned. But he allowed the goal and it’s not a clear and obvious mistake’.
There was somehow a push on Christoph Zimmermann’s goal attempt for Norwich, but Mane took the ball under control before any foul could be called in. The Liverpool forward went for a spin and shot a low, left-footed strike right inside Tim Krul’s right-hand post.
Farke also commented on Mane’s amazing performance in the game.
‘It’s also down to the unbelievable quality of Mané’, Farke explained. ‘He knows exactly which moment he has to be there with the little hit against the centre-back. Then there was a top-class first touch and a world-class finish’.
Liverpool had 17 shot attempts in the win, and six of those went on target. The team also had a 64% possession advantage over Norwich, and they made 624 passes on 83% passing accuracy.
The team continues its march towards Premier League history as they are just a few more games away from bringing home the league title and adding another one more trophy to their collection.
