PL Matchday 1: Top forwards you can bank upon

Ahead of the English Premier League 2019 season opener, we pick out the five most attractive options you should consider for a profitable conclusion to game week one.

1. Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian was one of the select few who played in all 38 league matches last season. He scored 22 goals and had eight assists to his name, ending as the joint top-scorer. Salah’s record against newly-promoted sides is another major reason to back him for a good opening matchday. The Reds will be at home and haven’t lost there in close to two years, further adding to Salah’s potential for Friday.

2. Jay Rodriguez

Burnley acquired the services of the potent forward from West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window. The 30-year-old was impressive whenever he took to the field for the Baggies and the Saints in the Premier League, and has 33 goals in just under 150 appearances to his name. Sean Dyche’s side will be hosting Southampton in the opening matchday, which given the Saints’ defensive record, makes the Englishman an exciting choice.

3. Wilfred Zaha

Having failed to fulfill his desire to seek a move away from Selhurst Park, the Ivory Coast will be gunning to enjoy an even better season to convince his suitors of his unparalleled potential. Zaha was of paramount importance for Crystal Palace last season, scoring 10 goals, providing five assists and almost topping the dribbling charts. The Eagles forward will also be licking his lips at the prospect of playing a leaky Everton defense in the opening matchday.

4. Moise Kean

Joining from Juventus just under a week ago, Kean is an absolute bargain for Marco Silva’s side. The forward has an impeccable record in his short career so far, while boosts a mentality that could help him submerge the vociferous Eagles supporters on Saturday. Palace didn’t have the best defensive record against teams above them in the Premier League last season, which points at a potential dream debut for the Italian.

5. Nicolas Pépé

The 24-year-old Ivorian forward was brought in to supplement an already powerful Gunners attack earlier this summer. He had a stellar time in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 23 goals and providing 12 assists in 41 matches. His performances were so spectacular that it drew comparisons to former Lille star Eden Hazard: something which will delight the Arsenal fans. Unai Emery’s side will be away to Newcastle in the first matchday and will be favorites to win three points.
