Premier League Updates

Manchester City cruises to a victory against Sheffield United, Southampton breaks the top half after beating Crystal Palace, and Newcastle wins their match against Everton. These are just some of the most recent updates from the Premier League.

Sergio Aguero helped power Manchester City win their match against Sheffield United 1-0. Meanwhile, Southampton broke into the top half of the league table, placing in 9th after they beat Crystal Palace. Newcastle mounts a comeback from being down 0-2 to end their match against Everton in a draw, with both goals being scored by Florian Lejeune in stoppage time. Aston Villa, on the other hand, beat rising Watford.

Chelsea, who are in fourth place, took the lead twice in their match against Arsenal. It’s worth noting that Chelsea was down to 10 players after David Luiz received a red card for tackling Tammy Abraham. Jorginho put Chelsea ahead 1-0 after scoring at the 28-minute mark. This wouldn’t last long as Gabriel Martinelli would even things up in the second half. The tug-of-war between the two clubs continued as Cesar Azpilicueta scored a goal, putting Chelsea up 2-1 with just six minutes remaining. Three minutes later, it would all be tied up again thanks to a Hector Bellerin goal.

The match would finally end in a draw leaving Chelsea six points ahead of Manchester United who is in fifth place. Arsenal, in contrast, seems adrift at the 10th spot - something unusual for a club that usually finished in the top four in the league table. Speaking after Chelsea’s draw with Arsenal, Frank Lampard said, ‘We could have had three or four goals today’, clearly frustrated at the outcome of the match. ‘Having shots, crosses and lots of 'ooh' moments. We have to be clinical’.

Mikel Arteta was happy with the effort that his side had put in, saying, ‘To do that against this kind of opponent in this stadium, I really value. The way they have done it, with the spirit they have done it, that's great’.

Then there’s Sergio Aguero who is considered as Manchester City’s hero by this point. He came to the rescue after Gabriel Jesus wasn’t able to score a penalty. Despite winning the match, they are still 13 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
