Ronaldo scores brace in Portugal’s 3-0 win over Hungary

Portugal breaks off with a 3-0 win over Hungary as Cristiano Ronaldo seals the deal with a big brace. The team rode on their captain’s huge run as he closed out the game for good. Portugal claims all three points to go up top Group F in their first game of the Group Stages.

A lot of football fans have waited for this game along with the France-Germany match. Group F - known as the ‘group of death’ - was set to bring the most hyped games in the Euro tourney, and the fans got more than what they asked for.

France closed out a 1-0 win over Germany, but it was Portugal that stole the show away with a 3-0 clean sheet. While most fans can see this as an easy win, Portugal did have a tough time on this one and it took them 84 minutes before they later closed out the win over Hungary.

Still, a win is a win, and Ronaldo came to the game with a lot of grit. The star is now the best scorer in the Euro tourney as he capped off a huge win for Portugal. With no goals in the first half, the team found a goal through Raphael Guerreiro in the 84th minute with a shot from the centre of the box.

This is when Ronaldo’s time came in for the team. He’s been as clutch as he could ever be.

Ronaldo scored a goal in just three minutes with a foul shot to double their lead. He went on to find an open look later on and closed it out with a goal in the 90th minute. He went left and went right before he got to his spot and knocked down his next goal of the game.

The star took over Michel Platini’s record for most goals in the Euro tourney. After a few key missed shots and an offside in the first half from Portugal, the team needed Ronaldo’s hero play to close out this game for them.

Boss Fernando Santos was pleased with the result. The late clutch win for Portugal could not have come at a better time - all thanks to Ronaldo’s brace. Ronaldo said it was all about winning the game in the end.

‘The big thing was to win. It was a tough game, over a team who played very well, but we scored three goals’, Ronaldo said. ‘And I am very grateful to the team for helping me to score two goals and being the Star of the Match’.

Ronaldo is now at the 106th-goal mark after this win. He is just three away from tying Ali Daei’s big record of 109 goals for the most world goals. He will have a lot of shots to bring more to his tally and lead Portugal to more wins in the game at the same time.
