Ronaldo vows to bounce back soon
Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo proved that he is one of the best scorers in the world, but he could not lead his team deep into the Euro tourney. The star said that the exit was tough, but it does not take away the great run they had and vows to come back stronger than ever.
Ronaldo saw how tough it was for his team - the title holders of the Euro tourney - to fall down in a tough game where they lost 1-0 to Belgium. He knew how much it meant for his team and threw off his armband in rage.
Portugal was stopped in the last 16, and now the competition is wide open for the other teams to take over. Belgium and England stand as two of the best picks to win in the tourney with both Germany and France out.
Ronaldo’s side was seen as one of the big picks to come out on top of the competition. They failed to hold on to their title in that huge loss to Belgium. Now it is all a summer rest for them and Ronaldo will have to watch the rest of the games at home.
‘We didn’t get the result we wanted and we left the race sooner than we wanted’, Ronaldo said. ‘But we are proud of our journey, we gave everything to renew the title of European Champions and this group proved that it can still give much joy to the Portuguese’.
Ronaldo was mad with the loss. At the age of 36, seeing his team lose out on a chance to win their second Euro title in a row might have been a tough end for him and Portugal.
The Juve star hopes to make sure that he and the rest of the team will bounce back now more than ever after this loss.
‘Our fans were tireless in supporting the team from start to finish’, Ronaldo said. ‘We ran and fought for them, in order to live up to the trust they placed in us. As for us, we will come back stronger. Forca Portugal!’.
Ronaldo will surely work hard when he has a chance at the Euro games. That is, if he is still in active play when that time comes.
