Why Simone Inzaghi will be a good coach for Inter Milan
With Antonio Conte leaving the team, Inter Milan signed Simone Inzaghi as the new head coach. There are doubters but Inzaghi has the potential to be a great coach with Inter, based on the flashes of brilliance that he showed with Lazio over the past decade.
Inzaghi has a similar style to Conte in terms of tactics. When Inter won Serie A in the 2020-21 season, they employed a 3-5-2 system which used their star duo of Lautaro Martínez and Romelu Lukaku. They used a loaded midfield to anchor the defence and to keep attacking when they had control of the ball.
Conte won with his plans and since Inzaghi uses the same foundation, it will be an easy move for both the new head coach and the players. They just won the title in the past season and they hope that they can copy that result in the future since they know their new coach can lead them to the promised land again.
Inzaghi is seen as a brilliant mind
Former Napoli head coach Gennaro Gattuso gave his thoughts about how this move will play out for Inzaghi and the rest of the Inter squad. At a young age, Inzaghi has the chance for better growth in Serie A. At 45 years of age, Inzaghi has a fresh outlook on football and he’s ready to prove that with Inter this year.
Gattuso talked about the changes Inzaghi will bring to his new club. The 43-year-old said, ‘Inzaghi’s arrival will change little, the tactical system will be the same even after Conte’s farewell. Inzaghi is young but prepared. It is clear that there will be some pressure, that is normal if you go to train the Italian champions’.
It’s interesting to see how other coaches view him but Inzaghi has a good reputation around Serie A. He led Lazio to good league placements in the past few seasons but Inzaghi is ready for a new challenge with Inter. If he can match people’s expectations, Inter might have another win under their belt in the 2021-22 season. They will have good rivals like AC Milan and Juve who are trying to do their best to keep up.
Inter still has a solid squad
With the presence of Lukaku and Lautaro, this team still has a good foundation. Even though they lost Achraf Hakimi and Conte, this team still has the tools to repeat as champions. Both Milan and Juve are trying to chase them but they’ve not made some big steps towards title contention. Milan even lost their star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to another club which is a big deal since he was arguably their best player.
Inter has made some good signings over the past few months and it looks like they will come in to help the club defend the title. This is big because most of the others have shown hardships when dealing with roster construction but Inter keeps chugging along and making some good signings to replace the players that left.
Even with the absence of Conte, Inzaghi brings a similar energy to the team with his tactics. He is a fresh face and he can bring a new outlook to the team without changing much about their strong run from last season. If Inzaghi can lead this team to a trophy, he has secured a job for the future since he’s still young and he has great potential ahead of him as a coach.
