Clem Shines in Xel’Naga Finest Week 5

Clement ‘Clem’ Desplanches notches his fourth win in five editions of the Xel’Naga Finest after claiming a victory over Mikolaj ‘Elazer’ Ogonowski in a complete sweep. It seems that Clem is gathering his pace as he is aiming to make history in the tournament this time.

Elazer claimed another finals berth in the second edition of the Xel’Naga Finest, where he fell to Gabriel ‘HeRoMaRinE’ Segat in three straight games. This time he went up against Clem and they delivered a thrilling match for the StarCraft fans.

The first map of the finals was Nightshade, and both players came up with a standard opening. Clem took a small hit with a couple of Banshees, but he later gathered his wits and pushed forward with his Bio Army. Elazer attacked and killed 13 SCVs with his Banelings on the other side of the map, and that meant that he didn’t have enough units to defend his base.

Clem pushed hard and came up with a sweep on his tank positioning. He went on to defeat Elazer’s units and claim the win on the first map.

The second game saw them in the Eternal Empire, and both players entered a macro game this time. Clem opted to use a Medivac plus Stim push, which concerned Elazer well as he didn’t have the units to counter the attack.

Clem locates his fourth base and pushed from his base in the south. Elazer tried to halt the advance with his Zerglings and even bombarded the Terran army with a few Baneling hits. He later tried to make a counter-attack, only to be ambushed by Clem’s Marines.

Clem later made a big push as Elazer tried to hold on in 10 minutes of intense action, but he later bowed out as Clem claimed another win to go up 2-0.

The two players then played on the biggest map in their third game. The Golden Wall opened up a lot of chances for Elazer, who claimed a big third base in the game, but Clem quickly countered that one with his drones. Elazer was caught in surprise and that burned down his army for a 3-0 sweep from Clem.
