The Stage Is Set for TSL Season 5 as Qualifiers Conclude

The final Western and Korean server qualifiers have recently finished. This sets up the final lineup for the double-elimination formatted main event.

In the third stage of the Western qualifiers. with only two main event slots remaining, Russian player Ivan ‘Vanya’ Cherpunov managed to secure the first slot with his Zerg play. On the other hand, American Terran player Joseph ‘Future’ Anthony finalized the western representatives. This was the last chance for the western players to reach the main event.

Vanya is a relatively new player on the scene, only debuting in 2019 managed to defeat veterans like Need and Namshar to reach the first spot. On the other hand, Future has experience winning tournaments in the past, particularly, Cheeseadelphia 8. He managed to run the lower bracket on the way to him securing the final spot in the tournament for the west. It was an impressive run especially for Future who started from the first round of the lower bracket.

In the Korean server qualifiers, China’s Li ‘TIME’ Peinan managed to use his Terran strategy to take the first slot in the final qualifier. He had to run a competitive gauntlet which involved players like RagnaroK and Scarlett. This was a tough bracket to run but he performed really well which led to his qualification.

For the final spot in the main event, Jun ‘TY’ Tae Yang and Jo ‘Patience’ Ji Hyun duked it out for final main event spot. Both players managed to play a solid game. Patience started hot managing to take the lead against TY in the early part of the match, but it all fell apart as time passed. After two Tactical nukes from TY, he managed to finish the qualifiers off and he has booked his ticket to the main event of the tournament.

This is set to be an insanely competitive tournament with players like Joona ‘Serral’ Sotala, Tobias ‘ShoWTimE’ Sieber and Lee ‘INnoVation’ Shin Hyung as the headliners. But even if they are participating in this tournament, you can expect that every competitor will work hard to win.

The official tournament bracket and its schedule will be announced in the near future.
