What makes Djokovic a great star?
Novak Djokovic is one of the best stars in tennis who has been on the prowl this year. The year 2021 has been big for the world no. 1 and he has done well to make sure he keeps on winning to stay at the top of the ATP Tour.
Novak has a lot of energy to show his best games. The star has been there to close out one of the toughest games of the year and still came out on top. The Serbian star always finds a way to claw his way out of the hardest matches and win.
His grit was seen well as he went on to win Wimbledon. Novak has found his groove left and right and still earned the win at the final in SW19. A lot of fans say he was born for the grit. He is always there to take on the big battles in the sport and proved his worth every now and then.
At most, Novak always comes out with a primal scream as he keeps on winning. This is why he is seen as one of the game’s best. He gives them the big games they want to see and proves his worth as a lethal star who is keen to make history.
Never an underdog
Djokovic said that it is within him to be full of grit. He has spent a lot of time in the Serbian mountains back then - with wolves. As Novak says, this might just be ‘wolf’ energy. He is an alpha in the sport and he plays with a lot of heart.
‘I think part of it is genes. My family, the way I’ve grown up in difficult times during the 90s for my country and I think failure was never an option for me or anybody from my family’, Novak said. ‘We just had to find basically the basic needs for us to survive during those times. It was difficult, and I think that has strengthened my character, I would say’.
Novak has now held the no. 1 spot in the ATP Rankings longer than any other player in the history of the game. Not even his rivals Roger Federer nor Rafael Nadal could get a chance to beat that.
Djokovic never saw himself as an underdog. He always believes he is on the high side which gives him a huge boost whenever it comes to working out on his games. The Serb never regrets his calls, the wins and losses he had in his career. He keeps on moving forward.
A born winner
Djokovic is pleased to see himself reaching a lot in his journey. His recent finish at SW19 saw him rise to the top of the list for most Grand Slam titles in the history of the game. He is now tied Federer and Nadal at 20 titles.
He is a born winner. He might have been late to see the hyped games from Nadal and Federer for a long time, but he was still able to catch up and make his own run to the top.
With both of his rivals set to retire sooner or later, Novak might just have a chance to reign supreme at the top of the ATP Tour for many years to come. Who knows, the Serb might still be able to extend his run as the world no. 1, and this makes him a great star.
