Why Novak carves his own path

Novak Djokovic is one of the best players in the world, and he is a legend in the making. The world no. 1 is keen not to follow or chase other players’ glory. He is simply carving out his own path and wants to make sure he is the only one of him.

In his quest for a 20th Grand Slam trophy, Novak is surely a man full of confidence in his games. Win or lose, the star has proved his worth as a true winner along with the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal who have the most Grand Slam wins.

Novak says he is not keen to chase down their glory. The Serbian star is writing his own story and wants to make sure that he ends his career as one of the best players in history with his own unique path to the top.

Compared to the other two stars of the Big Three, Novak simply has enjoyed 2021 better than ever. He is healthy, and he is in for more games to play.

After his three-set win over Marton Fucsovics in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, Djokovic has been on point with that matter. It is clear that Novak does not want to be compared to anyone, and he knows that each and every one of them has their own big wins in the game.

‘I'm not chasing anybody’, said the world no.1. ‘I'm making my own path and my own journey, my own history. I'm privileged to be part of history of this sport that I love. I know about a lot of stats. I don't know about all of them. But they do motivate me even more to play my best tennis at the events that count the most in our sport’.

At the age of 34, Novak has won 16 games in a row after his win over Fucsovics. He has also won the first two Grand Slams in 2021 - his ninth title in the Australian Open in February and second at the French Open last month.

Novak does not plan to step out of the game right away. He has seen a lot of tennis action in his career, and he is pleased to see the best of his game lead him to title wins as well. He has been the best that tennis has in the past few years - with both Federer and Nadal starting to slow down in their pace.

So far, Novak has put a lot of grit into his games this year, and this is why he is still the world no. 1. No one can doubt his success which is why he is still the best. The star is keen to finish strong this year, and to put in a lot of effort in the next few months.
