Japan NAR Tips: Wednesday 17th August
Wednesday’s racing takes place at Mombetsu, Nagoya, Ohi and Sonoda on the Japanese NAR circuit and we’ve selected our four best bets of the day.
Mombetsu Race 2 - #3 Miniature
This two-year-old filly has shown solid improvement every time she has stepped out to the races and strikes a very winnable contest here. Only narrowly went down by a neck over this course and distance last time out and Yamamoto has been in the saddle for the past three placings and sticks. Draws barrier three which should allow her to get across easily and take a forward position in transit. Sticks at the 54kg’s and this is a great opportunity to shed the maiden tag. Looks the hardest to beat in a race lacking in depth. Top pick.
Nagoya Race 9 - #9 Aoi Lovely
Aoi Lovely is an ultra-consistent campaigner who deserves to post another victory after finishing runner-up in four of her past five outings. Goes very well for jockey Kinomae who has posted three victories and seven placings from just 12 rides and again gets the benefit of her 2kg claim. Drops back a furlong in distance here but that shouldn’t pose a problem as she is a winner over this 1500m journey before. This looks a race with only a handful of chances and she should be in this for a very long way. Hard to toss.
Ohi Race 7 - #7 Green Flash
This four-year-old filly is a very honest performer who has done all of her racing over the 1200m distance here at Ohi. Is building up some handy statistics with two wins and six placings from just ten appearances and rarely puts in a poor effort. Gets 1kg weight relief with Nakahara’s claim who is yet to miss a place from seven rides, with two wins and five placings. Has a solid record third-up with a win and a placing from two attempts and will be near peak fitness now. Expected to play a major role in the outcome.
Sonoda Race 10 - #2 Vita Felice
Vita Felice has turned the corner this preparation posting a win and two very encouraging runner-up finishes from three outings, all over this course and distance. Trainer Kashihara has been looking after her this time in work by spacing her runs one month apart and it seems to be doing the trick. Again gets the benefit of the 2kg weight allowance with the claim and is drawn to get a perfect journey from gate two. The only danger appears to be Nedda but she doesn’t win out of turn and Vita Felice is racing with a lot of confidence. Rates the testing material against this lot.
