Why the 2021 VNL has become one of the best leagues
With the 2021 Volleyball Nations League set to end in the coming weeks, the participating teams have proven that it’s one of the best volleyball leagues in the world. FIVB President Ary Graça believes that the current bubble season is one of the best events in recent memory.
32 of the best teams in both the women’s and men's divisions have flocked to Italy to play in the tournament. Since it’s a bubble, it is a secure location where you can expect people to be safe and locked into what they’re doing.
The VNL Council approved the bubble back in January 2021 and it has succeeded so far with the players’ safety and the quality of the games played in the event. Excitement is real for the VNL because it provides a league where the best players perform and there are no issues with COVID-19 to talk about. This kind of platform is needed in the volleyball world since almost every major sport came back strong.
Elite competition is fun
The VNL is filled with the best teams possible. From afar, you can see that this is one of the most exciting sports leagues in a long while since volleyball is a fun sport and having the best players in one place ensures a solid experience.
Graça talked about how this event has turned out well in terms of the games’ quality.
‘The level of competition and sporting excellence is always elite at this competition, and it is clear that teams are holding nothing back in pursuit of the coveted title of VNL champions’, he said. ‘I look forward to seeing how the competition will unfold over the next few weeks, and wish all teams the very best of luck’.
The event will conclude at the end of June. An awesome ending is primed for the event since every team played their hearts out and they looked motivated. With teams like Brazil left in the event, you should expect volleyball highlights to make waves around the world.
Why the bubble is successful
Since the sports world is still affected by COVID-19, leagues have turned to secure bubbles to play out their events. While there were some breaches, the VNL proved they can help their players to have the best situation possible.
Graça talked about how the bubble has worked out.
‘I am very excited to be joining the VNL 2021 bubble’, he said. ‘For teams from all four corners of the globe to be here in Rimini and play in a safe environment is testament to the efforts of the FIVB, Volleyball World and the event organisers RCS Sports and Events to implement effective health and sanitary protocols’.
Hopefully, fans can come back to volleyball since this game is much better with fans present in a safe manner. It will be what’s best for the sport.
