Bitcoin Sports Fanatics League Season 7 - Round 5 Re-cap

Round 5 is in the books, marking the end of the first third of the season—and with that, we kick off the BSFL Cup and introduce a new addition to these updates: interviews. They won’t be in every article, but you can expect them to pop up fairly regularly from now on. There’s plenty to cover this week, starting with a round that was packed with high scores. Several players hit 8 or 9 correct answers, but the spotlight clearly belongs to hosemary, who delivered a flawless 10 out of 10 performance. An outstanding achievement that earned him the honor of being the first-ever BSFL interviewee. You’ll find that interview towards the bottom of the article; let’s dive into the weekly roundup.

Division 1 Recap

Division 1 delivered some serious firepower this round, with several teams putting up big numbers. Both vd309 and I managed 8 correct answers, comfortably taking care of our matchups. Jinetics1111 and Slissy weren’t far behind with 7 correct answers each, also securing wins. Slissy, however, didn’t have it easy—cls63 pushed him hard with 6 correct picks, which on most weeks would’ve been enough for the win, or at least a draw. Not this time. As for the standings, it’s already shaping up to be another tightly contested season. We’ve got a three-way tie at the top with 12 points, and three more teams sitting just behind within a 2-point range. No one’s pulling away just yet, and the pressure is already building.

Division 2 Recap

No surprises at the top—hosemary continues to lead the way in Division 2 with a perfect record of 5 wins in 5 games. This round, he raised the bar even higher by hitting a perfect 10 out of 10 correct answers. At this rate, it’s going to take something pretty special to knock him off the top spot. Still, the chasing pack isn’t backing down. Both Rikafip and B1g4udge picked up wins to keep the pressure on. B1g4udge, in particular, impressed with a dominant performance, scoring 7 goals and making a clear statement of intent. The gap may be there, but the race is not over.

Division 3 Recap

Division 3 was a bit more subdued this round, without any of the explosive scorelines seen elsewhere. The top performers were Dittoup and SATWAT, both finishing with 6 correct answers—solid results, made even better by the fact that their opponents had unusually quiet rounds. A welcome boost to the goal difference column. Dittoup remains in control at the top with 16 points, but Ozymandias_DZ is keeping things interesting just behind.

Division 4 Recap

Dump3er continues to impress, picking up yet another win to bring his tally to 15 points from 5 games—a perfect record so far and a firm grip on the top spot. Right behind him is goodpunt on 12 points, and while still trailing, goodpunt made quite the statement this round with 9 correct answers. If that’s not a clear signal of intent to challenge for first place, it’s hard to say what is. The title race in Division 4 might just be heating up.

LMS

After the chaos of previous rounds, this one was relatively calm—only 2 players dropped out, bringing us down to 15 still in the running for the 12.25 mBTC prize pool. At the top, vd309 continues to lead the way, holding onto the top spot. But this round wasn’t without movement—some big scores led to significant jumps up the table, and a few new contenders are starting to make their presence felt. With the field tightening, every round from here on out becomes even more important.

BSFL Cup

This week marks the start of our BSFL Cup side competition for Season 7. We’ve got a clean single-elimination bracket with all 64 players taking part. As tradition dictates, the first round is a doubleheader, which means things will get brutal fast—by Sunday, we’ll be down to just 16 teams. Interview – hosemary

Congratulations on your outstanding performance—10 out of 10 correct answers is a remarkable achievement. It's a feat that’s only been accomplished once before in seven BSFL seasons, and even then, the previous record-holder didn’t come close to matching 9 out of 10 correct in H2H matchups. Tell us something about yourself hosemary.

I joined bitcointalk in 2017. As the time went, I learned more and more about bitcoin and I became active in bitcoin technical boards. I joined a signature campaign that required me to make a few posts in gambling boards. That caused me to visit gambling boards more and I became interested in BSFL and joined this interesting competition from season 5. In my first season, I won the cup and promoted to division 2.

Did something special inspire you to manage 10/10 of in this round?

I always had the feeling I would one day have 10/10 points. After getting the 6th point, I was really hopeful to get the perfect score in this round and although I had secured my win, I followed all the remaning matches with enthusiasm and I finally managed to get all 10 points.

What is your general take on BSFL?

I like BSFL so much and I really enjoy it. It's really interesting that it's run like a real football league.

What is your board expectation for the season?

Now, I am at the first place of the second division and I think I have a very good chance of promoting to the first division. I hope it will happen. Who knows? I may win the cup too.

Something you want to share with BSFL gang?

Whenever I answered the questions without checking the odds, I had a much better performance. In the past round, I managed to get 10/10 while I answered all the questions without looking at the odds.
