Ben Stokes is back!

Ben Stokes is back!

Ben Stokes has expressed his appreciation for the clarity surrounding his position as a specialist batsman for the England ODI team. Stokes, who has been coping with a problematic knee, was chosen as a pure batter for England's 15-man World Cup squad, and how that might work out in India was demonstrated in the third ODI against New Zealand at the Oval, where he smashed 182 to record the highest individual score for England in the format.

Stokes remarked, "This is the first time I've been certain in my mind that that's the only thing I can concentrate on. "Over the past 18 months, every day has been like, 'Will I bowl, or Will I not bowl?'" Now that I know I can just concentrate on that.I currently do it for the team. That's helped by my mental clarity, I suppose."

Since moving up to No. 4, Stokes claimed that little about his approach to a game has altered. "I'd rather not enter that quickly because I want to watch the other lads succeed at the top. In one-day cricket, I don't think I've necessarily changed from all the years I spent at No. 5 or 6, he remarked. "I still believe that when I'm batting at No. 4, I'll proceed exactly as I did when I was at No. 5." The innings Stokes played on September 13th, according to Stokes, made him realize "how much time there actually is" in an ODI innings. He said, "You have a lot more time than you think. "Today was helpful for that in terms of game awareness and game smarts.

What about Jason Roy, whose record he broke by two runs to become England's all-time leader in ODI individual scoring?I expressed my regret to Jason [Roy] upstairs. He complimented me and I apologized. There wasn't much there, in my opinion. He will be relieved to see one of his teammates, with whom he has played a lot of cricket, remove that. Stokes also joked about not knowing the record was broken. He said, “But individual stuff like that, I’m not too fussed about. I didn’t really know I’d done it until the guy started announcing it, and then I got out the next ball. It was his fault!”

"However, personal matters like that don't particularly bother me. When the guy on the tannoy started shouting it, I finally realized what I had done before I pulled out the following ball. He was to blame for it.

Gary Stead, the head coach of New Zealand, offered an intriguing analysis of the entire inning. Stead joked, "I'd rather he get his runs now than on October 5."
